After graduating from Annandale High School in Fairfax County, Terry attended Duke University where she graduated with honors. After graduation she married her "home-town honey", and taught Spanish, English and American History at the Junior High Level. In 1968, she and her husband moved to N. Va, where they have resided ever since.
