Virginia:  The state of Virginia covers over 40,000 square miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Virginia surrounds a large part of the Chesapeake Bay, which encompasses over 2,500 square miles. Besides the Blue Ridge Mountains, there are two other ranges, Appalachian and Shenandoah; 15 major rivers, and eight additional major bodies of water.

| West Virginia: Mountainous West Virginia covers over 24,000 square miles. The highest point in the state is Spruce Knob in Pendleton County with an elevation of 4,861 feet. The lowest point in the state is the town of Harpers Ferry in Jefferson County with an elevation of 247 feet above sea level. Nearly 80% of the state is covered by forests.

Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania is twice the size of West Virginia covering nearly 50,000 square miles. There are 67 counties in Pennsylvania, some rural and some urban. The two major urban areas are Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, both major US cities. Most of Pennsylvania is covered with farmland. 3.5 million people live and work over 9 million acres of farmland.
